<image:caption>Nervousmaker: How did it go? Did you sell much? What was the typical reaction from the customers? Sean Donohue: It went great. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't my highest grossing convention, but we got to connect with new fans that never met us before, sold some of our wares, and it covered the cost of our dinner! Jessa Flux: Well! I sold more than I expected to & met some new fans. I believe it made us more accessible than a convention would, since there are no entry fees to Long John Silver’s. One guy complained about the food though. At length. However, I did notice he ate his entire meal. He asked us to go out drinking with him after the event & I would have if I hadn’t had to film the next morning.</image:caption>

<image:caption>West Columbia, SC, November 2023 - The eagerly awaited underground horror movie from Christopher Bickel, Pater Noster and the Mission of Light, enters its final stages of post-production with an anticipated release in early 2024. Pater Noster and the Mission of Light is the brainchild of the adventurous underground director whose previously acclaimed works The Theta Girl (2017) and Bad Girls (2022) have sent shockwaves through the indie film community. With an impressive track record of unsettling and thought-provoking films, Bickel is poised to take audiences on a nightmarish ride that will linger long after the credits roll.</image:caption>

<image:caption>While one single name on half the credits is generally considered something less than a “trademark of quality,” Writer/Director/Producer/Cinematographer/Editor Christopher Bickel claims to be an “auteur out of financial necessity.” “We make underground films with very little money for the love of the art. This is literally my back yard we’re shooting in. Everything we do is like the Little Rascals putting on a show for the neighborhood kids. That’s not to say that we don’t take great pains to make our products the best possible quality with the resources we have. Everything I know about filmmaking, I learned from punk rock. The movies we make are punk rock demo tapes. We operate outside of Hollywood focus groups and traditional distribution routes. We make movies for people looking for something different,” says Bickel, adding, “What happens in Pater Noster and the Mission of Light is beyond belief. It’s not for the squeamish or easily upset.”</image:caption>

<image:title>Words. - Manuer - 2014</image:title>
<image:caption>Manuer is the second movie put out through Very Fine Crap Videos, the first being the infamous Dog Dick, an experimental movie in the style of Gummo meets Giuseppe Andrews. This second release is much different from that. Manuer is essentially about a drunk homeless guy (played by James Bell) who steals a lawnmower and makes a little booze money by mowing lawns. One especially drunk day, he finds what he thinks is a 40 oz of liquor, but is actually fertilizer, and drinks it, causing him all kinds of intestinal issues. On the bright side, now wherever he shits, flowers suddenly bloom. This man is no dummy (I mean, aside from the drinking of fertilizer), and quickly realizes he can sell these flowers and then be drunk every fucking night! Hilarity ensues…kind of.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Okay, so this probably only applies to a couple people reading this site, but in just a couple days, the LEGEND himself, John Waters, will be doing his newest spoken word show, End of the World, in Nashville. The site describes it as a “comic monologue about today’s despair and diseases, desires and desperation … with an insane optimism that welcomes all audiences into a new dawn of depravity, (dealing with) how to reinvent the movie business, embrace stupidity in an intellectual way, even go beyond the limits of sexual transgression.” There are limited tickets left, and it’s not cheap, but this is John Waters we’re talking about. But the newest issue of Larry Flynt’s publication has a special feature on FOUR very important women in the current horror scene: Jessie Seitz, Zoe Rose Smith, Eva Hamilton, and my buddy Jessa Flux! <image:title>Words. - Upcoming Events From the Nervousmaker News Desk - Wanted: Crowdfunders!!!</image:title>
<image:caption>Turns out, the mega-conglomerates controlling the media want you to just watch boring shit, and don’t want to help good movies get made. Would you rather see something besides Avengers 25: The Wrath of Some B-Character from the Appendices of Marvel Universe? Me fucking too! So help these guys make their underground, independent movies… Amerikan Holokaust Part 2 - Believe it or not, Sleaze Box out of Tampa, Florida, make naughty, dirty, nasty movies for the fans of boobs and blood and boobs and…well, boobs. They’ve been doing this for over 10 years now, and have put a number of sleazy tales out on DVD. Now they’re trying to make their newest, the sequel to one of their original hits. It’s sure to be dirty and make you feel that weird combination of gross and aroused that you remember so well from your early years when you watched Cinemax late at night and tried to see just one butt through the pixelated, scrambled “adult” channels you didn’t actually have on your cable box. They’ve never disappointed, so this is an easy decision…send them your money!!! Deathgasm 2: Goremaggedon - Can someone please tell me why we have QAnon movies about child trafficking and 25 Walking Dead spin-offs getting corporate backing, but Jason Lei Howden has to do a crowdfunding campaign for the sequel to Deathgasm? God damn, there’s so much wrong in our world, but I’m trying to focus on the positives here. If you liked the first movie, you’re going to love the sequel. Blood, metal, demons, and hilarity will ensue. Help this guy get the break he deserves, cuz you know this is going to be amazing.</image:caption>

At the same time, shipping a single DVD from Brazil to the USA is VERY expensive. Never fear! Petter Baiestorf and Gurcius Gewdner have created a VOD page for a number of their movies over on Vimeo. We’re talking trailers, documentaries, shorts, and full-length movies here, showcasing some of the craziest these outlaw filmmakers have to offer. If I can recommend a couple… Pazucus: Island of Vomit and Despair, by Gurcius Gewdner, is like nothing you’ve ever seen before, while Zombio 2, by Petter Baiestorf, is a great example of Brazilian underground horror/exploitation, with non-stop blood, guts, and boobs. Check them shits out now while they’re so cheap!!!</image:caption>

<image:title>Words. - Upcoming Events From the Nervousmaker News Desk - So Many Conventions, So Little Time…</image:title>
<image:caption>There are a number of amazing horror conventions coming up around my area (uh-huh-huh, I said “my area”) that you should look into: Scarefest Lexington, October 20-22, Lexington, KY - Did Adrienne Barbeau talking into the microphone in The Fog change your life? Is Clint Howard more important to you than Jesus? Does Melinda Clarke’s strangely sexy undead role in Return of the Living Dead 3 still make you question things about yourself? I’m with you, my friend, and they’ll all be there…but more importantly, so will indie horror folks like Nathan Rumler, Dixie Gers, Jessa Flux, James Bell, and so many others. There will be drinks and autographs and “scaryoke,” and Friday night there is an exclusive spooky story time where horror legends will read short stories by local Kentucky authors, and I might be married to one of those authors, if you catch my drift (be there). Oh, and Jack Osbourne will be there…for some reason. Halloween Hangover, November 3-4, Barnes & Noble, Libbie Place, Richmond, VA - Do you like reading books that disturb you? Do you like meeting your favorite horror authors and asking them questions? Can you even read? If you answered YES to all of these, go to B&N in Richmond, Virginia, for their second annual Halloween Hangover. Tons of books to buy, tons of authors to meet, panels, handshakes, strange looks when you act like a creep and think because a woman was nice you should follow her around all night (Don’t fucking do that, you shithead). Featured guests include Grace Reynolds, Hailey Piper, and RJ Joseph, but authors like Max Booth III, Laurel Hightower, Wesley Southard, and Jessica Leonard ain’t no scrubs either! Butcher Cabin Bookfest, October 18, Pivot Brewing, Lexington, KY - This guy clearly favors the literate, am I right? Well, here’s another great horror author event in Kentucky put on by an independent horror bookstore, which already makes it way cooler than your “Um, actually, I can’t read” attitude. Head out to Pivot Brewing in Lexington, KY, have a beer, and hear some amazing authors read you creepy tales. Them Hightower and Leonard chicks will be there, as will Cynthia Pelayo and Nicole Cushing, both Bram Stoker Award-winning authors, and many others. Buy a book, take a selfie with it, and see if it ups your chances in life!</image:caption>

<image:title>Words. - Upcoming Events From the Nervousmaker News Desk - Oh, one more thing… Swamp Woman on sale NOW!!!</image:title>
<image:caption>Sean Donohue makes good movies, god damn it. He made the first two Death-Scort Service movies, which are great 70s-style slashers; Naked Cannibal Campers, which is as amazing as the title says; Satan Lives: The Rise of the Illuminati Hotties, which might honestly be my favorite of his movies, hilarious and sexy and bloody as fuck; and The Hart-Break Killer, a highly underrated gem. His newest movie is Swamp Woman, a Swamp Thing meets Southern exploitation, starring the lovely Sushii Xhyvette Holder in the titular role (uh-huh-huh, I said “tit”). I’ve been happy to back as many of his films as I could afford, because this dude has a great vision and a fun attitude toward filmmaking. And now Swamp Woman is available on limited edition signed Blu-ray. I highly recommend this movie if you like over-the-top acting (Joel Wynkoop is phenomenal here), bloody ladies, and sexy horror. Buy it from Grindhouse Video, a local (to me) independent video store that never disappoints!</image:caption>

<image:caption>Possessed and Undressed! If you’ve ever met Adam Freeman, you know he’s nothing but class. He’s hard-working, kind, a supporter of independent film, and an overall nice guy with a unique vision. I had the honor of working with him on the set of Curse of the Weredeer, and our time together definitely added a happy ending to my experience. His debut feature, Deadly Dealings, is a dark yet brightly colored look at depression, loss, and possession, a visually stunning, low-budget gem. Now he’s taking the hard-to-find SOV classic, Donald Farmer’s 1989 film Scream Dream, and remaking it in his own creative style. The cast is an absolutely amazing group of familiar names from the independent horror world, the crew is a supremely talented group of humans, and the Indiegogo just went live, so it’s time to put your money where your mouth is, all you supporters of indie horror, and pitch in to help make this the very best movie it can be!</image:caption>

<image:caption>Goddamn, my mouth is absolutely sweating at the thought of it! Now before you storm off in a digital huff to Twitter to argue with some stranger about which multi-platinum recording artist demonstrates the highest level of integrity while still being a “vibe” in those jeans, I am planning on talking about a genre picture here, eventually. We in the storytelling biz call this “taking the scenic route.” A little sizzle before your supper. Just a tad bit more set up before the stabby stories so stick with me. For the uninitiated, BOOK IT! is a literacy program that encourages children to read five books a month in order to get a coupon for a free Pizza Hut Personal Pan Pizza (or PHPPP if you haven’t got a moment to spare). What does pizza have to do with a giallo film? Besides the obvious Italian origins, the concept I’m not-so-subtly hinting at here is experiencing enhanced satisfaction through building anticipation. Those PHPPPs were good and all, but were truly elevated tenfold as a reward for a month’s worth of reading. For a nerd like me, it was like a present for doing what I was just going to do anyway! That shit is win-win!</image:caption>

<image:caption>A familiar enough movie-within-a-movie set up, but that’s where The Editor really shines. Taking those familiar tropes of giallo, upending them ever so slightly, and turning the comedy up to eleven all while continuing to lionize the essence of Italian horror. Think of what Mel Brooks did with Young Frankenstein in relation to classic Universal Pictures monster movies, but for psycho killers in leather gloves. The elements are carefully curated so as to not spoof the subject matter but instead affectionately pay homage with an appropriate amount of reverence to horror classics such as The Howling, The Shining, The Beyond, and The Strange Vice Of Mrs. Wardh, while including references to their iconic cinematography and lighting.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Eating Miss Campbell is all about Beth Conner, an angst-filled goth vegan who goes to Henenlotter High, a kind of across the pond version of Nuke ‘Em High where the student body and faculty itself might be just as toxic as nuclear waste. Beth has tried every form of suicide imaginable, but she just keeps waking up in a low-budget horror movie. Her dad and stepmom make her want to puke, her classmates are garbage at best, sociopaths and snobs and date-rapists at worst. But then two things happen to brighten Beth’s Blue Monday - Henenlotter High hires a new teacher named Miss Campbell (who is absolutely to die for) and announces their All You Can Eat Binge & Purge contest, where the winner has the choice of a) shooting up their school, or b) shooting their own brains out. And suddenly the angry little emo girl has a smile on her pale face. But whoopsie fucking daisy, it can’t all be that simple, can it? And that’s where mean girls and cannibal cults and betrayal and S&M-for-grades and references to every other teen movie come in…</image:caption>

Unfortunately, Sean has decided to at least temporarily hang it up, which is a true shame (I’m personally still upset that he couldn’t get funding for Naked Cannibal Campers pt. 2, which was sure to be a beautiful thing). But he’s going out with a bang, bringing in a cast featuring Jessa Flux, Sushii, Bob Glazier (with a spot-on Anton LaVey look), Lixy Lestat, Joel Wynkoop, and more for Satan Lives!. <image:title>Words. - Divide & Conquer - 2021</image:title>
<image:caption>Divide & Conquer is a tale about the journey of modern goddesses in an underground, Homer’s Iliad kind of way, but much more colorful and Tromatic. This is the story of three ladies, er…gynos - Athena, Lilith, and Toxie - who just wanted to have a drink at the bar, but instead find themselves on a quest to destroy a fascist, misogynist way of life that is threatening to take over the world. We’re talking racist, sexist bar patrons, rapists, narc motel clerks, shithead cops (‘round here we call those “pigs”), Nazis, and the mysterious Knights of White. Luckily, these ladies are able to find allies in their fight in some unexpected places, sometimes way down the rabbit hole: an off-the-grid tech wizard; the proprietor of the Gender Bender club; a hearing-impaired waitress; even the King of Trash himself. If this doesn’t sound like an epic odyssey, I don’t know what does.</image:caption>

This newest batch of Troma films has really been pushing things to another level, and it opens the doors to another absolutely amazing 50 years of uncensored, unapologetic, un-budgeted works of genius. <image:title>Words. - The Secret of Cuck Island - 2022</image:title>
<image:caption>The Secret of Cuck Island, director Rives Elliot’s feature-length debut (see also the short films Tammy and My Boyfriend is Coming AKA Superviolence), will make its world premiere Sunday, July 17th at Troma-Thon ‘22 during the 22nd Annual Tromadance Film Festival. Within the first TWO minutes of this movie, we get conspiracy nuts, ‘Merican flags, boobs, cheeseburgers, public finger-bangin’, puke, cum, and shit. Don’t even pretend you need to hear more… You’re still here? Fine, I’ll do my job and talk more about the chaotic clusterfuck that is The Secret of Cuck Island - and I mean that in the absolute best possible way. Our main character, John, just moved to the big city and started working for a self-proclaimed social media influencer (Izzy). Hence the reason the found footage aspect of this film works - he’s supposed to be filming everything. When he fucks that job up, he has to find work online, which leads him to Purple Pam (played by Purple Pam), who wants him to film her uncovering an ecological conspiracy - barrels of meat-like substances washing up on the shores. Little does he know that this will lead him straight into some shady, illuminati-type eugenics shit.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Nervousmaker usually focuses on movies, sometimes books, but the truth is, music plays a HUGE part of how I got here, to this very moment in my life. I started playing drums in 5th grade because I thought Rikki Rockett from Poison was so fucking cool, found much heavier stuff in 7th & 8th grade, and ever since my sophomore year in high school I’ve been playing in bands…I was 15 years old then…I’m 45 years old now, still playing in punk bands, and I’ve already amassed more than a lifetime and a half worth of memories: going to shows, playing shows, recording, touring, roadying… There have been a lot of high moments and an unfortunate number of low moments, but it’s a big part of the nervousmaker that I am today. One of the bands that I have many fond memories of is The Slow Death, from Minneapolis, Minnesota (TCMF!).</image:caption>

<image:title>Words. - Remission - 2022</image:title>
<image:caption>To say much more will just spoil the fun, but suffice it to say, things are not going well down at the South Pole. Director Schatzel is careful to not show too much while also telling the story as clearly as is needed, and credit to him for not going too far either way. This is a well-shot, well-acted short film, one that takes so little of your time but packs such a strong punch. There is a very strong, and very obvious, pro-environment message here, but it’s not so on the nose as to make the cynic in you cranky. Part of this is because it’s too short to irritate anyone, and part is because it has such strong vibes of John Carpenter’s The Thing that even a tree-hating, pro-fracking, coal-worshipping asshole has to admit it’s a bit creepy. But what’s awesome is that it is completely different from Carpenter’s masterpiece, the only real similarities being the cold and the dread.</image:caption>

<image:title>Words. - Remission - 2022</image:title>
<image:caption>I’ll be honest, this is my favorite kind of short film. It sets up the problem, it introduces a small group of characters, and then it unleashes the madness. No fluff, no filler, just sixteen minutes of story in a sixteen minute film. Remission finds Dr. and Dr. Rothschild in the middle of Antarctica, doing science things, when Dr. Margaret Rothschild points out that she has found something strange, what seems to be a virus, possibly originating in the Ice Age. While she looks into this further, Dr. Oliver Rothschild confers with Dr. Mezrani over Zoom (or Skype, or whatever), and Mezrani says he worries that he has seen something like this before…and maybe it’s Earth’s way of evening the score, shall we say, against these pesky polluting humans. Meanwhile, our two younger interns, Elijah and Taryn, are walking down the hall when suddenly, something bad happens… Cue the madness unleashing!!!</image:caption>

<image:caption>“Remission is a sci-fi environmental horror which takes place in a remote research facility in Antarctica. Oliver and Maggie Rothschild, leading virology researchers, discover a rare virus which may permanently change our planet. We've spent decades killing our planet. Now it returns the favor.” “We don’t have time to sit on our hands as our planet burns. For young people, climate change is bigger than election or re-election. It’s life or death.” - Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez</image:caption>

<image:title>Words. - Acid Bath - 2006</image:title>
<image:caption>Synopsis (from DVD back cover): “KILL DISSOLVE REPEAT The underworld explodes in this gritty and twisted action horror. A crazed maniac is on the loose and he’s got the hookers and drug dealers on the run with nightly killings. The local criminals team up with a ruthless drug syndicate and a rogue bounty hunter in hopes to stop the blood from running on the streets, with gore-soaked results. You’ve never had a bath until you’ve had an ACID BATH!”</image:caption>

<image:title>Words. - Acid Bath - 2006</image:title>
<image:caption>Acid Bath is a chaotic, bloody, somewhat confusing SOV movie written and directed by the team of Lou Garcia and Annette Martinez (who, for whatever reason, only made this and the 2003 short film Cannibal Maniac together; Martinez also went on to write and direct Rhine Maidens in 2010). It’s action-packed, gore-drenched, and a little bit crazy, a true example of modern-day exploitation cinema - just look at the poster to the right! Not really sure how the tagline “Only the insane will survive!” pertains to this movie, but technically all of the images on display do, to some extent, appear in the film. But that synopsis… much like the poster here, it’s telling a different story using all the right pieces.</image:caption>
</image:image>
<image:image>
<image:loc>https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/5e0033e316d77c4b25bb7770/7f4651e6-10f2-4564-8ad0-6b9ef11021b4/acidbath3.jpg</image:loc>
<image:title>Words. - Acid Bath - 2006</image:title>
<image:caption>At the same time, there’s a lot to like here. Matt Ursin is very convincing as bounty hunter Tommy, bringing just the right bravado and cockiness that the character needs. When we first meet him, he is tracking down a fugitive and gets into a gun fight. When the bad guy gives up, Tommy shoots and kills him, causing his dead body to fall many stories to the ground, where Tommy then proceeds to kick him a few times. Near-perfect portrayal of a cop. Also good is Chris Macedo as Zeke. He is clearly evil, but we can see that there is something wrong with him, something hinted at but never officially named. He has moments where he is a regular dude, and then he has other moments where he’s fantasizing about murder, and women covered in blood, and women walking the streets with a voiceover talking about pigs going to slaughter. Most of the cast of Acid Bath were one-and-done, this being their only role (at least according to IMDb), so the acting range goes from mediocre to surprisingly good, as expected, but no one seems to be mailing it in.</image:caption>

<image:title>Words. - Let’s Get Murdercised!!!</image:title>
<image:caption>If there’s anyone out there carrying the torch for the classic 80s slashers and doing it right, it’s Paul Ragsdale and Angelica De Alba, collectively known as A & P Productions. 2016’s Streets of Vengeance saw a group of bad-ass ladies band together to fight off a bunch of women-hating, incel douchebags; 2020’s Slashlorette Party combined the sorority house slasher with the cabin in the woods slasher and delivered the best of both worlds; and now they’re getting ready to do it again with Murdercise, bringing blood and guts to the sleazy workout video circuit. But they need your help, as independent film budgets don’t just grow on trees! Having already put together two very successful crowdfunding campaigns in the past, these two know what they’re doing, and this time they’re stepping up the perks and promising something truly special to fans of throwback horror.</image:caption>

<image:caption>I first met Jimmy Adamson way back in the early 2000s when our bands (him - Sass Dragons; me - Vacation Bible School) were supposed to play a basement show at the Subject House in Elgin, Illinois, but the basement flooded, so he brought the whole show to his house, the slightly less shitty 411 House, in Naperville, Illinois. We hit it off, and our bands played many shows together. He often used my drums. When I left the band Brickfight, he took over the drums. He and his wife (Keri) gave me a copy of The Great Outdoors on VHS as a wedding gift. Jimmy is one of my favorite people, so when he moved to the east coast and started working in the moving pictures business, I couldn’t have been happier for him.</image:caption>

Turns out, Ben lives closer to me than most of the people I talk to on a regular basis, so one day we’ll probably get together, have a couple drinks, and talk shit about Jimmy. But until then, he was gracious enough to talk to me about the path that has brought him to where he is today, his production company (ShitHouse Productions), and the new movie.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Gurcius Gewdner is an evil genius and a mad scientist, a gentleman and a scholar. You’re just as likely to catch one of his films in a stuffy classroom full of “art” people as you are at a Napalm Death show. He’s been creating art since 1996, when he was 13 years old (At 13, I was listening to Poison and trying to grow a mullet). He’s acted in films by Rodrigo Aragão, Petter Baiestorf, and Fernando Rick; he’s edited nearly 80 films; he’s directed some of the most chaotic films around, including Pazucus: Island of Vomit and Despair and Mamilos Em Chamas (Flaming Nipples); and his band, Os Legais, is a mix of Naked City, Charles Bronson, Andy Kaufman, and total anarchy. Proceed at your own risk!</image:caption>

<image:caption>Larissa Anzoategui makes movies that are fun for everyone: they’re full of blood and gore, they’re sexy and smart, they’re metal as fuck, and they’re fun as hell. As the director of Astaroth Producoes (alongside writer Ramiro Giroldo and cinematographer Pedro Rosa), her star is steadily rising, with a handful of short films (A Janela da Outra, Red Hookers, Fatal, etc.) and a couple feature-length films (Astaroth and Domina Nocturna, both available through Vince D’Amato’s Darkside Releasing). Keep an eye out for the return of the Astaroth Producoes website, packed with bonus features and horror-style photo shoots with devilishly beautiful, bloody women, as well as the upcoming anthology, Helldose.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Felipe M. Guerra has done a little bit of everything in the world of filmmaking. He’s written, directed, acted, and runs Necrofilos Producoes Artisticas. He’s made short films (Bring Me the Head of Antonio Mayans; The Augusta Street Ripper), feature-length films (Entrei em Panico… pts 1 & 2), and documentaries (Fantasticozzi; Deodato Holocaust). Felipe has been nothing but helpful to the new guy (aka: me) in the class., and he’s a very knowledgeable fellow, writing about film not only on his own page, but also over at Medium. I’m excited to say that most, if not all, of this content is exclusive here, having not been included in the Splatterpunk article due to time/space constraints.</image:caption>

<image:title>Words. - Brazilian Outlaw Cinema, pt. 2 — Rodrigo Aragão - When Rodrigo Aragão was young, he was a fan of horror movies makeup effects, just like most of us. Unlike most of us, he followed his dreams and started working in the business, figuring out how to create the effects he loved, then making movies in which he could showcase them. He has released a number of brilliant rural-based ”eco-terror” horror films over the years – Mangua Negro (Mud Zombies), A Mata Negra (The Black Forest), and A Noite do Chupacabras (The Night of the Chupacabras), to name a few. 2020 saw Aragão release the acclaimed O Cemiterio das Almas Perdidas (Cemetery of Lost Souls), an epic, brutal tale full of the director’s trademark makeup/effect work. This was his biggest film to date, and it’s been wowing the festival circuit and the critics.</image:title>

<image:title>Words. - Brazilian Outlaw Cinema, pt. 1 — Petter Baiestorf - Petter Baiestorf is a prolific filmmaker, a writer and musician, a renaissance man, a fucking living legend. He’s currently crowdfunding a new book, Manifesto Canibal, (2nd edition), a kind of “how to” guide to making DIY movies with zero budget originally publish in the early 2000s, but now updated and doubled in size. This is coming off the success of his book Canibal Filmes: Os Bastidores da Gorechanchada, which is essentially an oral history of his many years of filmmaking. And speaking of his films – this guy has made a ton of them! You want blood and gore? It’s in there. You want sex? It’s in there. You want controversy and transgressive anti-political art? It’s in there! He’s also been super helpful and friendly every time I’ve talked to him, directing me toward almost everything I’ve learned about Brazilian art. Check out his website, Canibuk, for his own words, links to watch/buy his movies, and lots of other great stuff.</image:title>
